Georgetown County Adult Education is honored to recognize Mr. Jim Coyne as our program’s volunteer of the year. Jim retired from Qualcomm Inc. as VP of Business Development for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.  He then worked as a consultant and lived in Sweden. Jim and his wife relocated to Murrells Inlet, and three years ago they became involved with the volunteer program at Howard Adult Center through their church’s outreach ministry. Jim volunteers faithfully in our GED Math Lab. Not only can we count on him to be present, we also rely on him to assist in teaching difficult math concepts to struggling students. Jim shared that volunteering at Howard Adult Center has been something he looks forward to doing every week. Of his experience with adult learners, Jim remarked, “Our happiest and saddest day occur simultaneously when one of the students passes the GED.  Happy because all their effort has paid off for them, saddest because they move on and we lose touch with someone we call friend.Howard Adult Center is thankful for Mr. Jim Coyne. On behalf of our staff and students, I congratulate Jim Coyne on being our volunteer of the year!
